"This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. It’s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm, a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence that burns with energy and builds with all the impetus of a crescendo, the roll of the drums, the crash of the cymbals—sounds that say listen to this, it is important."
Literary weddings- a wedding at one of those old libraries where the books are stacked to the ceiling on shelves. the cake has your favorite book written around it or is shaped like your favorite book the invitations can be the library cards that tell you when the book is due. This is so cute and I will not settle for anything else on my wedding now.
"Because The Internet" (For Childish Gambino) - Illustration by Sam Spratt
After illustrating Donald Glover’s Royalty series, he hit me up again to create the poster for his new album “Because The Internet”. The artwork ties directly into the narrative of his album and its screenplay (which are incredible — seriously, look and listen to this, it’s beautiful and crazy) — and while I was mostly given free reign, he handled all art direction personally.
I won’t be sellingthe poster personally, but you can get them at the mansion parties he’s throwing — more in the near future.
